A fire broke out at the Olympic sailing venue in Weymouth just hours before the opening ceremony on Friday, according to journalists.
Press were gathered at Weymouth Pavilion on Friday evening waiting to speak to the British sailing team when emergency services evacuated the press conference.
A Telegraph journalist in attendance said that more than 50 journalists were evacuated, with the press conference moved to the quayside.
Tom Cary reported that the fire broke out in the men’s lavatory, and that four appliances from Dorset Fire & Rescue attended the scene, bringing the blaze quickly under control.
Members of the public were also at the venue to watch the London 2012 opening ceremony on big screens.
No one was injured in the blaze.
